Founded in 1983, the Chambéry Savoie Mont-Blanc Handball is a club playing in the first division since 1994. French champion in 2001, the club has finished second on 11 occasions, a record in France. In addition to the prize list of the Savoyard club a League Cup obtained in 2002 as well as a Champions Trophy in 2013.

The club is currently coached by Érick Mathé, Patrice Canayer's former assistant at Montpellier Handball. In the 2017/18 season, the Savoyards finished ninth in the Liqui Moly Starligue, and were also eliminated in the quarter-finals of the EHC European Cup. Raphaël Caucheteux's team-mates had a convincing 2018/19 season, finishing in 3rd place in the Liqui Moly Starligue ranking, behind Montpellier Handball and Paris Saint-Germain.

In the course of its history, the club has notably seen the development of players such as Jackson Richardson, the brothers Guillaume and Bertrand Gille, Cyril Dumoulin and the emergence at the highest level of a certain Daniel Narcisse.

The club won its first French Cup in the 2018/19 edition, by beating Dunkerque in the final, and after taking out Montpellier Handball.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS

During the 2018/19 season, Paris Saint-Germain won 26 - 22 in Coubertin against Chambéry Savoie Mont-Blanc on Liqui Moly Starligue matchday 12. The Red and Blue won again 30 - 21 in Savoie on matchday 18, thanks to a very good Rodrigo Corrales. On 2019/10 season matchday 6, the Savoyards went to Coubertin. The Parisians won 32-29 with an excellent performance of Kim Ekdahl du Rietz.

On April 4, Paris Saint-Germain Handball beat Chambery 34 to 23 thanks to Kamil Syprzak and his 6 goals as well as 5 from Ferran Sole.

In the race for a place in the EHF European League, Chambéry fought vehemently against the Parisians, who led for most of the match. Chambéry's efforts paid off as they managed to hold the future 2020/21 French Champions to a 32-32 draw.

Both teams met again on October, 17, as part of matchday 6 of the Liqui Moly Starligue, the parisians went victorious 36 - 29, and remained top of the league table. 

During the 2017/18 edition of the French Cup, Chambéry was defeated in the semi-final stage against Paris Saint-Germain, future winner of the competition.

Born on July 23, 1991, Kamil Syprzak has been one of PSG Handball's leaders since the 2019/20 season. The Polish is one of the best players in the world at the pivot position thanks to his power which allows him to be a defensive and offensive asset. These qualities allowed him to join FC Barcelona in 2015 and to notch up titles in Catalonia during 4 seasons (3 championships, 3 Spanish cups, 3 Spanish Supercups). The Polish international is easily playing at the highest European level. His 9 goals against Celje on February 9, 2020, in a tight victory highlight this. He is also effective in international competitions as he won a bronze medal at the 2015 World Championship by scoring the decisive goal in overtime.

Since he joined the professional team in 2015, Alexandre Tritta haved assert himself every season as a key player of Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Handball. After a season 2020/21 with mixed results, the solid right back fully participates in the fight of the Savoyard club for the European places. Very efficient against Istres as part of championship matchday 7, he played an essential role in the victory of his team during this match by shaking the net 8 times. His current record of goals for the season 2021/22.

Le Phare

800 avenue du Grand Arietaz - 73 000 Chambéry

Inaugurated on January 28, 2009, Le Phare is the official venue of the Chambéry Savoie Mont-Blanc Handball. Modular and modern, the hall also hosts many cultural and sporting events in Chambéry. In match configuration, the venue can accommodate 4,400 spectators.

Located in the northern part of the city, Le Phare is easily accessible on foot from downtown, as well as by car. Free parking for 2,000 cars is available near the grounds.
