The Benfica Lisbon
Founded on February 28, 1904, in the Benfica district of Lisbon, Sport Lisboa e Benfica is one of the most emblematic clubs in the Portuguese league, along with FC Porto and Sporting Portugal. A founding member of the National League in 1934, the club has never left the first division since.
The most successful club in the Portuguese league, Benfica Lisbon won the Champions Cup twice, in 1961 and 1962, led by the duo Aguas - Eusebio, and beating respectively FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in the final.
Benfica Lisbon is often considered the club with the most supporters across the country, and even beyond, illustrated by an impressive number of socios, called Benfiquistas. The club has been presided over since 2021 by Rui Costa, a former Aguias star who trained at the club and won the Portuguese Cup in 1993 and the league in 1994.

Born February 12, 1988, in Buenos Aires, Nicolas Otamendi is an Argentine defender, captain of Benfica SL. Trained at Velez Sarsfield, he discovered Europe in 2010 by signing for FC Porto, with whom he won the Europa League. Transferred to Manchester City in 2015, he won numerous trophies under Pep Guardiola, including 4 League Cups and 2 Championships. In 2018, he is a member of the Premier League type team, alongside his teammates Walker, De Bruyne and Aguero.
Estadio da Luz
Inaugurated on October 25, 2003, the Estadio da Luz is the official home of Benfica Lisbon. It takes its name from the neighborhood of the same name, located in the center-west of the Portuguese capital. With a capacity of over 64,000 seats, it is the largest stadium in the country.
In the Estadio da Luz's first inaugural match, against Montevideo Nacional, Nuno Gomes scored the first goal in the stadium's history. A nice tribute to the emblematic Benfica Lisbon player, who played for the Encarnados for 12 seasons.
On the 2022/23 season, Benfica won home against Guimaraes (5- 1), Club Brugge (5 - 1) and Juventus (4 - 3).
