The Berrichonne Châteauroux

Founded in 1916, La Berrichonne de Châteauroux is one of the leading clubs in the Centre-Val-de-Loire region, alongside Tours FC and US Orléans. Despite its seniority, the Berry club has only participated in one Ligue 1 season, that was in 1997-98, which saw RC Lens win the championship ahead of FC Metz.

In the 2003-04 season, the club achieved its best ever performance in the French Cup, reaching the final at the Stade de France. Victor Zvunka's team lost 1-0 to Paris Saint-Germain, with a goal by Pauleta.

Since 2021, the club is presided by a former manager of Paris Saint-Germain, Michel Denisot. La Berrichonne has seen some great names of soccer on its bench, such as Jean-Pierre Papin and Marco Simone.

The PSG against Châteauroux

The two teams met on May 29, 2004 in the final of the French Cup, at the Stade de France. After having beaten AS Monaco and Dijon FCO, La Berrichonne lost by the smallest of scores, following a goal by Pedro Miguel Pauleta in the second half.

The Red and Blue were travelling to Indre on January 08, 2023, as part of French Cup Round of 64. The Parisians won 3 - 1 with goals from Ekitike, Soler and Bernat.

Born on March 01, 1993, in Cullera, not far from Valencia, Juan Bernat has been playing for Paris Saint-Germain since the 2018-19 season. Trained at FC Valencia, he played 3 seasons with the first team, before signing for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014. Under Pep Guardiola, he won the Bundesliga in 2015 and 2016. With the Red and Blue, he quickly established himself as one of the best left backs in the championship, until being part of the type team of the 2019-20 season.

Born on December 01, 1993, in Rufisque, Senegal, Adama Mbengue has been playing for Châteauroux LB since the 2021-22 season. Spotted by the Academy of Orlando City SC, in Florida, he made his professional debut during the 2012-13 season, before returning to his native country and Diambars Football Club. He played his first Ligue 1 games for SM Caen, where he played from 2017 to 2021. With the Lions of Teranga, he participated in the 2018 World Cup, alongside Sadio Mané and Idrissa Gueye.

Inaugurated in 1964, the Stade Gaston-Petit takes its name from the former mayor of Châteauroux, between 1967 and 1971. The current capacity of the stadium is a little over 17,000 seats. Great matches have taken place there, such as the receipt of Bordeaux in the League Cup in 1995, the arrival of Paris Saint-Germain in 2000, or the victory against OM in the French Cup 2001.

Located in the east of Châteauroux, the stadium is easily accessible by public transport, thanks to the Horizon Bus network and lines 2, 9 and 15.
