The Tunisian selection is one of the most historic of the African continent. At the 1978 World Cup in Argentina, it became the first African and Arab team to win a match in the most prestigious international competition - a 3-1 victory over Mexico. Since its first official match on March 29, 1957, the Eagles of Carthage have grown up, participating in 6 World Cup finals, including 3 consecutively between 1998 and 2006.

The selection is coached by the Tunisian technician Jalel Kadri since January 30, 2022.

With 36 goals, Issam Jemaa is the top scorer of Tunisia. The striker is well known in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats: he played for RC Lens, Stade Bretois and AJ Auxerre.

Tunisia's greatest success to date remains their victory at the 2004 African Cup of Nations in front of their home crowd. Led by French coach Roger Lemerre, the Eagles of Cartage won the final against Morocco, after having eliminated Senegal and Nigeria in the previous rounds.

In the World Cup, Tunisia participated in its first finals in 1978, finishing in third place in its group behind West Germany and Poland. In 1998 during the edition organized in France, it finished last of its group composed of England, Romania and Colombia.

Qualified for the final phase of the 2022 edition in Qatar, Tunisia will be opposed to France, Denmark and Australia.

The Olympic Stadium of Radès

Located in the southeastern suburbs of Tunis, the Rades Olympic Stadium is the main venue of the Carthage Eagles. Inaugurated for the Mediterranean Games in 2001, the stadium has a capacity of 60 000 seats.

During the 2004 African Cup of Nations organized on Tunisian soil, the local team won 2 - 1 in the final against Morocco in this stadium.
