CLUBUL SPORTIV DINAMO BUCURESTI
Dinamo Bucureti is a group of several sports clubs founded for over 70 years. The handball section of this group of associations shares the same name as its omnisports club: Clubul Sportiv Dinamo București.
In 73 years, the Romanian club stayed close to the top of the Romanian national handball for a long time. Bucuresti won 17 titles in the national championship. An impressive result, but unfortunately it is contrasted with the achievements of its historical opponent, Steaua Bucharest, which won no less than 28 titles.
If Dinamo Bucuresti led the way by winning the first four national handball championships in Romania, from 1958 to 1962, its opponent, from the same city, gave very little chance to the team to be on the roof of Bucharest again. The team was forced to be satisfied with a second place for a long time (22 times), but was able to count on some collective performances that allowed the Romanian club to cut off the dazzling series of titles of Steaua Bucharest. It was only in 2015, that Dinamo București managed to regain the lead in the championship and once again be king of the Romanian capital.
These results were due in particular to the recruitments including French players such as (Hugo Descat) and even former Red and Blue of the first hour (Ibrahima Diaw) that allowed the club of Bucasrest to continue its march forward in the national championship.
Thanks to a wildcard (invitation from the European Handball Federation) obtained for the 2021-22 season, Dinamo Bucuresti will join the elite of European handball and will face for the first time the Paris Saint-Germain Handball club for the first day of the EHF Champions League group, on September 22, 2021. This team will have a lot to do in this competition but will be able to count on a strong and experienced support: Cédric Sorhaindo, the French team's legendary center and former player of the Parisian capital.
The finished 7th in the Champions League stage, abode HC Motor.
Consecutive to the 2022-23 Champions League group stage draw, Dinamo Bucaresti is part of Group A, alongside Paris Saint-Germain, Veszprem, Zagreb, Gog Handbold, FC Porto, Wilsa Plock and SC Magdeburg.
