Celtic Football Club in brief

Founded in 1887, Celtic Football Club is the flagship team of the Scottish Premiership with nine league titles won in the last nine editions. Built around a popular Catholic base, the Bhoys club has strong historical roots in the city's Irish community. The players have a close rivalry with the city's other club, Glasgow Rangers. This competition between the two clubs has given rise to the popular Old Firm derby.

The team enjoys full status on the European stage, with several notable Champions League campaigns, including three Round of 16 appearances since 2005. In the 2019/20 season, Neil Lennon's men reached the last 16 of the Europa League before being eliminated by Danish club Copenhagen.

Several French players have had the opportunity to wear the club's colours, such as Olivier Ntcham, Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard.

After nine league titles won consecutively, the club finished at the 2nd position of the championship during the 2020-21 season, behind Glasgow Rangers coached by Steven Gerrard. The club qualified for the 2021/22 Europa League. Within group G, they will be facing Leverkusen, Ferencvaros and Betis.

Celtic FC won the Champions League in the 1966/67 season.
