RasenBallsport Leizpig is a German football club based in Leipzig, Saxony, in the east of the country. It was founded on May 19th, 2009, at the instigation of Red Bull GmbH, the famous energy drink brand. For its first Bundesliga appearance in the 2016/17 season, the club finished in a surprising 2nd place behind Bayern Munchen.
The team was coached by Julian Nagelsmann between 2019 and 2021, former coach of Honnenheim between 2016 and 2019. On September 19th, 2018, against Chakhtar Donetsk, he became the youngest coach to participate into a Champions League match.
At the end of the 2019-20 season, the club finished in 3rd place in the Bundesliga, with the 2nd best defence and 3rd best attack in the championship. The Red and White achieved their best performance in the Champions League that same season by reaching the semi-finals against Paris Saint-Germain, after eliminating José Mourinho's Tottenham and Diego Simeone's Atletico. At the end of the 2020/21 season, RB Leipzig finished second to Bayern in the Bundesliga, ahead of Dortmund and Wolfsburg.
Thanks to this second place, the club qualified for the group stage of 2021/22 Champions League. As a result of the draw, the Germans were in group A with PSG, Manchester City and Club Brugge and finished in third place behind the Red and Blue and the Skyblues. After being relegated to the Europa League, Christopher Nkunku's teammates had a good run, eliminating Real Sociedad and Atalanta Bergamo in the quarter-finals. The adventure of Leipzig stopped in the semi-final of the Europa League after being eliminated by Glasgow Rangers who were carried by the mythical atmosphere of Ibrox during the return match.

The Parisians against Leipzig
After having eliminated Atletico de Madrid, the RB Leipzig was defeated by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of the Champions League, on August 18th, 2020, in Lisboa.
Following the draw made on October 1, 2020, by Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda, the two teams will compete within Group H of the Champions League, alongside Manchester United and Istanbul Başakşehir. On November 4, 2020, the Red and Blue have been defeated 2 - 1 at Red Bull Arena. After Di Maria opening score, Nkunku and Sabitzer gave victory to the Nagelsmann's players. On November 24, 2020, the Parisians had defeated RB Leipzig 1 - 0 at Parc des Princes. The unique goal came from Neymar JR during first half on penalty.
Consecutive to the Champions League draw made on August 26, 2021 by Michael Essien and Branislav Ivanovic, the RB Leipzig will be part of group A alongside Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Club Brugge KV. Mauricio Pochettino's players will be receiving Leipzig at Parc on October 19, 2021. The Paris Saint-Germain will pay a tribute to one of its greatest players: Ronaldinho. With 2 goals from Messi and 1 from Mbappe, the Parisians went victorious 3 - 2 at Parc des Princes.

Gianluigi Donnarumma began his football career with ASD Club Napoli. He was later spotted by the great AC Milan where he joined their training center in 2013, at the age of 15. Born on May 03, 2000, in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, Mohamed Simakan plays as a defender for Red Bull Leipzig. After a spell with OM between 2011 and 2014, he signed his first professional contract with RC Strasbourg, playing his first senior matches in the 2019/20 season. After two seasons in Alsace, he signed for RB Leipzig on March 22, 2021, replacing his compatriot Dayot Upamecano, who have been transferred to Bayern Munich. On March 13, 2022, he scored his first goal against Greuther Furth.

Inaugurated on November 17th, 2004, the Red Bull Arena, previously known as the Zentralstadion, is the official venue of the Red Bull Leipzig. With a capacity of almost 43,000 seats, it also hosted matches at the 2006 World Cup, including the France-South Korea and Argentina-Mexico matches.
In the 2022/23 season, Christopher Nkunku's teammates won at home against Real Madrid (3 - 2), Celtic Glagow (3 - 1) and Dortmund (3 - 0).
Located on the edge of the Elsterbecken, in the Zentrum-Nordwest area of the city, the Red Bull Arena is accessible by public transport, in particular via the tram line, get off at the Sportforum stop. Parking is also available near the stadium at car parks P2 and Arena 2.
