The French League Cup of handball
Since its creation, the League Cup has been recognized as a flagship competition in France, Montpellier Handball being the most successful club in the tournament's history, having won it 13 times. Paris Saint-Germain remains on 3 consecutive wins between 2017 and 2019. In addition to the two clubs mentioned above, Chambéry (2001/02), Créteil (2002/03), Istres (2008/09), Dunkerque (2012/13) and Nantes (2014/15) have managed to add their name to the list of winners of the tournament!

FORMAT
The competition begins with a playoff stage, followed by the Round of 16 and then the Round of 8 in which the qualified teams meet clubs playing in the EHF Champions League, for a place in the prestigious Final Four.
Starting with the 2019/20 season, the National Handball League has adopted a new formula that provides an entry of the most challenged teams during the season, including those participating in the Champions League, from the quarterfinals only, in order to lighten their schedule, which generates the addition of an extra round.
The 2019/20 edition was cancelled in the semi-finals due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and then the 2020/21 edition was completely cancelled due to the late resumption of the championship.
For the 2021/22 season, the competition was back in a different setting as it only opposed the 16 Liqui Moly clubs and ended with a Final4 that took place in Metz. After having defeated Montpellier in semi-finals, Nantes won the final against Chambéry.
