Founded in 1919, Angers SCO has two Ligue 2 BKT titles to its honours, achieved in 1969 and 1976, and has twice appeared in the final of the French Cup, against Toulouse in 1957, and more recently in 2017, facing a Paris Saint-Germain side featuring Neymar Jr and Ángel Di María.
Angers’ local rivals are Nantes, being the two clubs currently competing in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats located in the Pays de la Loire region. Promoted to the second division together in 1945, they vied for regional dominance for decades decade, before Les Canaris moved up to the league of French football.
In 2019-20 season, Stéphane Moulin’s players achieved a promising season ended at the 11th position, ahead of FC Nantes and Girondins de Bordeaux.
After 10 years at the head of the first team, coach Stephane Moulin left his functions at the end of the season 2020-21. A page was turned for the one who allowed the Angevin club to return to the elite, after 21 years of absence.
Angers has also unveiled a new logo for the 2021-22 season. The aim of the diamond shape is to highlight a value dear to the club: its unity.
Angers has realized a good 2020-21 season in Ligue 1 Uber Eats despite numerous loss during the final matchdays. The club reached the quarterfinals of French Cup where they lost against PSG.

The Parisians against Angers
On October 2, 2020, on Ligue 1 Uber Eats matchday 6, the Parisians won 6-1 against Angers at Parc. After Florenzi's exceptional opening score, Neymar twice, then Draxler, Gueye and Mbappé found the way to the net. On January 16, 2021, the Red and Blue have been victorious 1-0 against Angers at Raymond Kopa Stadium, on matchday 20. The unique scorer was Layvin Kurzawa.
Angers SCO was facing Paris Saint-Germain on April 21, 2021, at Parc des Princes, as part of French Cup quarter-finals. The Red and Blue went victorious 5-0 with a hat-trick from Mauro Icardi.
A late Mbappé's penalty gave the parisians a precious win 2-1, after on October 15, 2021 at the Parc des Princes as part of the matchday 10 of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats 2021-22. In the second leg of the matchday 33, Paris Saint-Germain won 0-3, with a goal from Ramos and Marquinhos.

Born on June 19th, 2002 in Sintra, Portugal, Nuno Mendes began his career at FC Despertar, before being spotted by Sporting at the age of 10. After playing in the youth teams, he played his first game in the Liga NOS on June 12th, 2020, against Paços de Ferreira. With Sporting he won the Portuguese Championship, the League Cup and the Supercup. On September 1st, 2021, in the final moments of the summer mercato, he joined Paris Saint-Germain on loan with an option to buy. A modern left-back, fast and capable of being an offensive asset, he is reminiscent of his right-back counterpart, Achraf Hakimi
Born on April 15, 1987 in Lesquin in the North of France, Pierrick Capelle is one of the most experienced players of the SCO, following the departure of many players in the summer of 2022. He revealed himself to the public under the colors of US Quevilly and this 2012 epic French Cup. The Normandy club reached the final, after having eliminated Olympique de Marseille and Stade Rennais. He joined Angers in 2015 and discovered the Ligue 1 Uber Eats, winning the UNFP trophy for the most beautiful goal of the year. In 2017, he reached the final of the French Cup, becoming the first player to achieve this performance with an amateur club (Quevilly) and professional (Angers).
Raymond-Kopa Stadium

Raymond-Kopa Stadium was opened in 1912 under its initial name of Stade Bessonneau. Following its renovation in 1957, the stadium was renamed in honour of Jean Bouin, the renowned French athlete who died in action during World War I. On March 6th, 2017, a few days after the death of Raymond Kopa in Angers, the town’s mayor proposed bestowing the name of the former star on the arena, a suggestion that was met with unanimous approval. The stadium’s current capacity is 14,277.
During the 2022/23 season, Angers SCO had defeated Montpellier (2 - 1), Lille (1 - 0) et Troyes (2 - 1).
Located in the southern Saint-Leonard district, Stade Raymond-Kopa is accessible by foot and public transport from the centre of Angers.

- Nicolas Touzaint, gold medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games in horseback riding.
- Finally Raymond Kopa, the legendary striker of the Stade de Reims and the French national team, began his professional career at the SCO Angers in 1949. The 1958 Ballon d'Or winner will later give his name to the stadium of the Angevins.
