A quick overview of Clermont Football Club 63
Founded in 1984, Clermont Football Club 63 will play in Ligue 1 Uber Eats for the first time in its history for the 2021/22 season. After several failures to reach the podium in the previous seasons, the 2020/21 season ended with a rise in Ligue 1 Uber Eats with their second place.
The club coached by Pascal Gastien has shown an impressive defensive solidity with 20 games without conceding goals. But Clermont FC 63’ players are also very effective on the other side of the pitch. Indeed, they have scored 60 goals in the 2020-21 season. This strength on both sides of the field has allowed the club to have the best goal difference in Ligue 2 BKT.
The club is also known for electing the first female coach of a men's professional team in France. In 2014, Corinne Diacre took over as head coach after Helena Costa stepped down before the start of the season. Her time spent at Clermont was a successful period for the club and the team came close to going up in 2015, finishing fifth in the Ligue 2 BKT. Corinne Diacre left the club in 2017 to take charge of the French women's football team.

Parisians against Clermont-Ferrand
PSG and Clermont only faced each other once in their history but this game was memorable. On March 1, 1997, Clermont hosted Rai’s teammates as part French Cup. The match went to penalties after a 4-4 scoreline. Parisians were leading 4-1 at the 68th minute but the perseverance of the club from Auvergne allowed them to come back to the score at the 86th minute thanks to N’gotty who scored an own goal. The fourth division team finally reached the quarterfinals by defeating PSG on penalties 4-3.
On September 11, 2021, PSG and Clermont were facing each other for the first time in Ligue 1 Uber Eats on the matchday 5 of the 2021/22 championship. The Red and Blue went victorious 4 - 0, with 2 goals form Ander Herrera.
Players to follow Duel
7 goals and 9 assists during the 2020/21 Serie A season, Achraf Hakimi joined Paris Saint-Germain on July 6th, 2021. A modern right-back, whose qualities of speed and forward projection are well above average, the Moroccan international quickly adapted to Mauricio Pochettino's tactical set-up, scoring 3 times in only 7 games. On September 22, 2021, he scored two goals against Metz, giving the Red and Blue a victory in extra time. With Inter Milan, he had also offered the title of the Italian champion by scoring the second goal against Crotone on matchday 34. A player of great occasions.
Born on 10 March 1989 in Vénissieux, a suburb of Lyon, Maxime Gonalons joined the highly regarded Olympique Lyonnais training center in the early 2000s. The player who would later become OL's captain made his first appearance with pros in 2009, in a Champions League preliminary round match against Anderlecht. Known for his leadership and ability to break down lines in midfield, the defensive midfielder quickly established himself as a key player in his team. In 2017, after 335 games played for OL, Gonalons joined AS Roma before played 3 years for Granada. In 2022, he returned to Ligue 1 and to his native region by signing for Clermont.
Gabriel-Montpied Stadium
4 rue Adrien Mabrut - 63100 Clermont-Ferrand
Inaugurated in 1995, the stade Gabriel-Montpied has hosted all the opponents of Clermont football club 63 since that same year. The capacity of the Clermont stadium is 10,810 seats. However, an expansion project has been accepted by the regional council of Auvergne in order to increase the stadium's capacity. This project is planned in 3 phases and the objective is to reach 30,000 seats. This would allow the club to obtain a large-scale stadium and enable the city to host major sporting events.
For its first time in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, the club won at Bordeaux (2 - 0) and at Stade de l'Aube against Troyes (2 - 0).
Located on the northern outskirts of Clermont, the stadium can be reached via public transport by using tramway line A. It is also possible to reach the stadium thanks to bus lines 21 and 3.
A little more of Clermont..
Located in the heart of the Massif Central, Clermont-Ferrand has been buzzing with the Clermont Foot 63 and its first participation in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats in 2021-22. But the city is also linked to great names and entities in French sports:
- Founded in 1911, ASM Clermont Auvergne is a mythical club in the French championship, just like its Marcel Michelin Stadium, named after the son of the founder of the famous tire company. Multiple champion of France, ASM is also a regular in the 2nd place, with notably 3 finals of European Cup lost, and 3 consecutive places of runner-up in Top14 between 2007 and 2009.
- Renaud Lavillenie, a member of Clermont Athlétisme Auvergne, has been the pride and joy of the Auvergne region, winning one Olympic title and three World Pole Vault titles.
- Finally, Marion Bartoli, a native of Puy-en-Velay, has represented her region with dignity, winning the Wimbledon Tournament in 2013.
