PARIS vs

Nîmes Olympique in short

Founded on April 12th, 1937, Nîmes Olympique reached the French first division a few seasons later before enjoying their heyday in the late 1950s/early 1960s, when their fierce rivalry with Stade de Reims moved on to a new level. After finishing runners-up in the 1971/72 season, the club made their UEFA Cup debut the following season, but went out in the first round.

In 2018, and after a period of 25 years spent in the National (France’s third tier) and the second division, Nîmes Olympique were guided back to Ligue 1 Uber Eats by coach Bernard Blaquart, after finishing second behind old foes Stade de Reims. Since February 2021 Pascal Plancque has been named head coach to replace Jerome Arpinon.

The club’s main rivals, however, are Olympique de Marseille, with the two playing out a number of memorable top-of-the-table clashes in the 1970s. Nîmes Olympique's record is composed of one second division title to date. French first division runners-up on four occasions, they have also played in and lost three French Cup finals.

Nîmes' players were relegated to Ligue 2 BKT after losing 5-2 to Lyon in the 37th matchday of Ligue 1 Uber Eats 2020-21.

In 1932, Sporting Club Nîmois took part in the first French professional football championship.

Born on September 9th 2002 in Beaumont-sur-Oise, Timothée Pembélé is a promising player for French football. His speed and sense of anticipation allow him to defend effectively against any type of striker. These are the qualities that enabled him to earn his place in the team of the tournament for the Under-17 World Cup in 2019 and to finish in 3rd place with France. Equally at ease in central defence or on a wing, the young Parisian defender recently extended his professional contract with PSG until 2024.

vs
Anthony Briançon Defender 28/11/1994

Born on November 28th, 1994, in Avignon, Anthony Briançon is one of the fundamental players of the Nîmes Olympique squad, which he joined in 2012. Two seasons later, he was already imposing himself as a starter in Ligue 2 BKT at only 20 years old, before experiencing the consecration and the rise to Ligue 1 Uber Eats at the end of the 2017-18 season. Captain of the club, he had been unable to prevent the Crocos from going down to Ligue 2 BKT after a season 2020-21 concluded in 19th position, behind FC Nantes. Stade des Costières

Located at 123 avenue de la Bouvine - 30900 Nîmes

Opened on February 15th, 1989, and located in the district of the same name, the Stade des Costières once held nearly 30,000 spectators. Subsequently refurbished and reduced in size, it now has a capacity of 15,934. Thanks to Nîmes Olympique’s exciting brand of attacking football, the stadium boasted one of the highest attendance rates in Ligue 2 BKT in 2017-18 season, the team being the best attack in the league.
