OGC Nice in short

Founded in 1908, Nice are, alongside Monaco and Cannes, one of the French Riviera’s most prominent football clubs. However, contrary to their near neighbours Cannes, who have gradually spiralled down through the divisions, Nice succeeded in being part of the French most competitive championship, the Ligue 1 Uber Eats. Run by Jean-Pierre Rivière since 2011, OGC Nice appointed Christophe Galtier as new head coach on June 28, 2021, and after a triumphant 2020-21 season with LOSC ended with the title.

In terms of honours, Nice have won 4 Ligue 1 Uber Eats titles and have lifted the French Cup on three occasions. On the continental stage, the club has twice reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, in 1957 and 1960, both times, Real Madrid proved to be one hurdle too far. In addition, they got to the third round of the UEFA Cup, in December 1973, where they lost to Cologne. The club was part of Europa League Group C, alongside Bayer Leverkusen, Hapoel Beer Sheva and Slavia Prague. The club finished at the 4th position, with only 1 victory.

One of the highlights of the year for Nice fans is the Côte d’Azur derby, where their heroes lock horns with Monaco, the team’s most recent success in the hotly contested fixture came on March 6, 2020, thanks to two goals from Kasper Dolberg at Allianz Riviera.

Nice has realized a subdued 2020-21 season by finishing at the 9th position in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, behind Montpellier and Lens. In French Cup, the club was eliminated in the round of sixteen by Monaco.

Consecutive to its victory against FC Versailles, the club was playing the French Cup final at Stade de France, on May 8, 2022. Amine Gouiri's teammates were defeated by FC Nantes, victorious of its penalty shootout over AS Monaco.

OGC Nice reached the League Cup final in 2006, losing 2-1 against AS Nancy-Lorraine.

The Parisians against Nice

On October 18, 2019, Thomas Tuchel's men were travelling to Allianz Riviera as part of matchday 10. The Parisians won 4-1 thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappé and Mauro Icardi.

On 2020-21 Ligue 1 Uber Eats matchday 4, Thomas Tuchel's men went victorious 3 - 0 against OGC Nice at Allianz Riviera. Mbappé, Di Maria and Marquinhos scored their first goal of the season during this match. On February 14, 2021, On Valentine's Day, the Parisians were receiving OGC Nice at Parc des Princes. Wearing their new third jersey, the Red and Blue went victorious 2 - 1, thanks to goals from Draxler and Kean.

On December 1, 2021, at Parc des Princes, the match ended with a 0 - 0 draw. The kick-off was made by recent Moto GP World Champion, Fabio Quartararo.

Consecutive to the January 4, 2022, draw, the Red and Blue faced OGC Nice on January 31, 2022, at Parc des Princes as part of French Cup round of 16,  Nice won a tense penalty shootout 6-5 to reach the quarterfinals.

On March 5, 2022 the Allianz Riviera hosted the return match as part of matchday 27 of the championship, a very tense encounter, won by Les Aiglons, thanks to Andy Delort's last minute goal.

The first confrontation between the two teams dates back to the 1971-72 season. Final score 1 - 1.

Gianluigi Donnarumma Goalkeeper 25/02/1999

Born on February 25th, 1999, in Castellammare di Stabia, near Napoli, Gianluigi Donnarumma plays as a goalkeeper. He won the Italian Supercup with AC Milan in 2016, as well as the the Euro 2020 with the Azzurri, his amazing performance making him the best player of the competition. After an impressive last season in Serie A, the Italian international joined the Parisian club on July 14th, 2021, worthy successor to the legend Gianluigi Buffon at the Parc des princes. The Italian goalkeeper played his first minutes against Clermont without conceding a goal and while covering their backs, his teammates assured a clean 4-0 win.

Marcin Bulka Goalkeeper 04/10/1999

Born on 4 October 1999 in Plock, Marcin Bulka began his career with various Polish clubs before signing for FCB Escola Varsovia, a satellite club of FC Barcelona in Poland. In 2016, he had trials with the Catalan club and with Chelsea. A few months later, the 1.99m goalkeeper signed his first pro contract with the Blues. With the London club, he played in the Youth League and appeared in the pro squad for the first time in a Community Shield final against Manchester City. In 2019, Marcin Bulka joined Paris Saint-Germain and made a few appearances in the Parisian XI. In search of playing time, the Polish keeper had experiences at FC Cartagena and Châteauroux before signing permanently with OGC Nice in 2022.

Allianz Riviera

After having played at their traditional home of Stade Municipal du Ray from 1927 to 2013, Nice opened their brand-new ground, the Allianz Riviera, on September 22nd, 2013. Located in the Saint-Isodore district, the Allianz Riviera is a modern, multi-functional stadium that is also used for Top 14 professional rugby matches as well as high-profile concerts, such as the one featuring Jay-Z and Beyoncé in July 2018. Boasting a total capacity of 36,178 seats, the arena also staged UEFA EURO 2016 matches, including the Round-of-16 encounter between Iceland and England.

During 2022/23 season, OGC Nice had defeated Marseille (1 - 3), Montpellier (6 - 1) et Monaco (0 - 3).

The club has put in tremendous efforts to ensure that access to the Allianz Riviera is as easy as possible, putting in place Ligne Foot (“football lines”) rail services from several neighbouring areas, and a shuttle service from nearby car parks. Bus services 9 and 10, as well as 95, which only operates on matchdays, also facilitate access for supporters. In addition, shuttles run from the Saint-Augustin regional train station to the stadium.

  • Since 1933, Paris - Nice is one of the main stage races in France. The "Race to the Sun" has been won by Raymond Poulidor, Laurent Jalabert and Alberto Contador.
  • Founded in 2006, OGC Nice Handball is one of the representatives of femjnin handball in France, as evidenced by its runner-up position at the end of the 2018-19 season.
  • It is also the former club of Cleopatra Darleux, Olympic champion with Les Bleues in Tokyo.
  • Nice is also the city of Fabio Quartararo. First French winner of a MotoGP Grand Prix, first French MotoGP World Champion, El Diablo was honored on December 1, 2021 at the Parc des Princes, by giving Paris - Nice kick-off.
  • Since 2005, Nice has hosted the Ironman France, an international triathlon competition won by Felix Pouilly in 2021. The Spanish Marcel Zamora Perez won 5 years in a row between 2006 and 2010.
  • The Allianz Riviera, the home of the Aiglons, will also be in the spotlight during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, hosting soccer matches.
